The Artist

Lorri Anne Maley-Bell spent her first 17 years in Edmonton, Alberta with Art and Ballet consuming a large portion of her time and energy.

Born into a family of fine artists, architects, interior designers and gallery owners she was continually influenced to create and absorbed art throughout her childhood.

Watercolor was the first medium she was allowed to use due to cost and age however it would eventually become her favorite. Lorri received the majority of her art education through her talented family and once competent in one medium, she was challenged with another. Following the first 17 years Lorri lived on Vancouver Island for 18 months before she returned to Alberta where she married and raised two sons south of Edmonton.

Her married name Lorri Anne Maley-Bell provided a logical acronym and is why the artist signs her paintings “lamb”. A busy working wife and mother Lorri continued with many artistic endeavors which included operating a silk-screening company that designed logos, signs and banners. In 2008, with her family’s full support Lorri began painting full time and her artistic journey continued. Moving from one medium to another before concentrating mainly on watercolours. The next seven years were filled with exploring and painting the Alberta prairies, mountains and neighbouring provinces. This time was also spent planning a future move to North East British Columbia. Now living on an acreage nestled between two lakes, Lorri enjoys the beauty of her new surroundings and the wildlife that roam on the property that provide inspiration for many of her paintings.
