I’m still in love with painting landscapes and the adventures in exploring them. I love hiking, I love the mountains and I love traveling on water in a canoe. I also love to paint so I can share the amazing places I have experienced through my eyes. The where, when, who and why are all part of my paintings and make up the elements in the composition. As such, each watercolour I paint always has a story even before it is painted. Since moving my studio to Northern British Columbia, I have concentrated on exploring my new home and capturing the amazing scenery I encounter. I rarely have the time when hiking or canoeing to paint and so I rely on my camera skills and my travel journal to help recreate a landscape. In those journals I make quick sketches adding atmosphere, date, time of day and any other relevant information. During the long winter months, I paint those landscapes reliving the adventures and painting the stories. The rest of the year I paint in bursts, balancing life with time outs to paint.
